Colaba Causeway has a history that goes back to the early 19th century when Mumbai was still made up of separate islands. Earlier, Colaba Island remained cut off from the main city during high tide, making travel difficult for both local residents and traders. To solve this problem, the British Government decided to build a permanent road connecting Colaba with the rest of Bombay. The construction of Colaba Causeway was completed in 1838, and it completely changed the area's future.
