📜 History

Brindavan Gardens is one of Karnataka's most famous tourist attractions, located just below the Krishna Raja Sagar (KRS) Dam near Mysuru. The garden was developed between 1927 and 1932 during the rule of the Mysore Kingdom. The idea behind creating this beautiful garden came from Sir Mirza Ismail, the Diwan of Mysore, who wanted to transform the area around the newly built dam into a pleasant public garden. The design was inspired by the famous Mughal-style Shalimar Gardens of Kashmir, with wide terraces, fountains, flower beds, and neatly arranged pathways. Sir Mirza Ismail Krishna Raja Sagar Dam

Over the years, Brindavan Gardens became a favourite picnic spot for families and visitors from across India. The garden gained even more popularity after being featured in several Indian films, especially classic Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi movies. In the late twentieth century, the addition of the musical fountain made it one of the most visited attractions in South India. Every evening, thousands of tourists gather to watch the colourful water show with music and lights. Even today, the gardens are maintained as an important tourist destination and remain a symbol of Mysuru's rich heritage, attracting nature lovers, photographers, and travellers throughout the year.
