Bhedaghat, located near Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh, has a long and fascinating history that dates back to ancient times. The area was once part of the powerful Kalachuri dynasty, which ruled central India between the 10th and 12th centuries. During their reign, many temples and religious structures were built around Bhedaghat, making it an important cultural and spiritual centre. One of the best examples of this rich heritage is the Chausath Yogini Temple, which is believed to have been built during the 10th century. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Durga and is one of the oldest surviving Yogini temples in India.
Over the centuries, Bhedaghat came under the rule of different kingdoms, including the Gond rulers, who governed a large part of central India. Later, during the British period, the place gained popularity because of its breathtaking Marble Rocks and the magnificent Dhuandhar Waterfall.
