Ashoka Waterfall

Ashoka Waterfall, also known as Vihigaon Waterfall, is one of Maharashtra's most beautiful monsoon waterfalls. Located near Vihigaon village between Kasara and Igatpuri, the waterfall drops from a height of about 120 feet amidst lush green hills and forests. It gained popularity after scenes from the Bollywood movie Ashoka were filmed here, leading locals and tourists to call it "Ashoka Waterfall." The waterfall is especially famous for its scenic beauty, adventure activities, photography opportunities, and peaceful natural surroundings. The best time to visit is during the monsoon season from June to September when the waterfall is in full flow.

Ashoka Waterfall, popularly known as Vihigaon Waterfall, is one of the most picturesque natural attractions in Maharashtra. Nestled near Vihigaon village between Kasara and Igatpuri, this magnificent waterfall becomes a paradise during the monsoon season. Surrounded by dense forests, rolling hills, and refreshing greenery, the waterfall offers visitors a perfect escape from the busy city environment.

The waterfall cascades from a height of nearly 120 feet, creating a spectacular curtain of white water that plunges into a natural pool below. During the rainy season, the entire region transforms into a lush green landscape, making it a favorite destination for photographers, nature lovers, trekkers, and adventure enthusiasts. The cool mist generated by the waterfall creates a refreshing atmosphere and adds to its scenic charm.
Ashoka Waterfall earned its popular name after several scenes from the Bollywood movie Ashoka, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor, were filmed here. Since then, it has become a well-known tourist destination attracting visitors from Mumbai, Nashik, Pune, and surrounding regions. Adventure seekers often visit the waterfall for rappelling activities organized during the monsoon months.

A short trek through the forest leads visitors to the waterfall, providing opportunities to enjoy nature, observe birds, and experience the beauty of the Western Ghats. Despite its popularity, the location still retains much of its natural appeal and tranquility.
Whether you are looking for adventure, photography, relaxation, or simply a peaceful day amidst nature, Ashoka Waterfall offers a memorable experience. The combination of cascading water, lush greenery, fresh mountain air, and scenic surroundings makes it one of the finest monsoon destinations in Maharashtra and an ideal getaway for families, friends, and nature enthusiasts alike.

📜 History
