The most remarkable feature of Lambasingi is its unusually cold climate. 📜 History
Lambasingi is a small hill village located in the Visakhapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh, India. Its history is closely connected with the indigenous tribal communities, especially the Konda Dora people, who have lived in this region for centuries. These tribes depended on agriculture, forest produce, and traditional lifestyles while preserving their unique customs and culture.
During the British colonial period, Lambasingi gained importance because of its cool climate and dense forests. British officials used the area as a retreat from the hot coastal plains and introduced plantations of crops such as coffee and pepper. Roads and basic infrastructure were gradually developed to support these plantations and improve access to the remote hills.
After India's independence in 1947, Lambasingi remained a quiet tribal village with agriculture as its primary occupation. Over the years, coffee cultivation expanded, providing livelihood opportunities for local families. The village became widely known for experiencing unusually low winter temperatures, sometimes close to 0°C, making it one of the coldest places in South India.
