About Amboli

Amboli is a charming hill station situated in the Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra, nestled amidst the lush Western Ghats. Located at an altitude of approximately 690 meters, it is the last hill station before the Konkan coastal plains begin. The region is renowned for its breathtaking landscapes, dense forests, deep valleys, waterfalls, and unique biodiversity. Amboli receives the highest rainfall in Maharashtra and is often referred to as the "Cherrapunji of Maharashtra."

The hill station is part of the globally recognized Western Ghats biodiversity hotspot, home to numerous species of birds, butterflies, reptiles, amphibians, and rare plants. During the monsoon season, clouds descend to road level, creating a magical atmosphere that attracts tourists from across India.Popular attractions in Amboli include Amboli Waterfall, Sunset Point, Kavlesad Point, Mahadev Gad Point, Nangarta Falls, and Hiranyakeshi Temple, the origin point of the Hiranyakeshi River. These spots offer panoramic views, photography opportunities, and peaceful natural surroundings.

Historically, Amboli gained importance during the British era when Colonel Westrop recognized its tourism potential and developed it as a hill station. Today, it remains relatively less commercialized compared to other hill stations, making it ideal for travelers seeking tranquility and an authentic nature experience.

Visitors can enjoy trekking, birdwatching, waterfall exploration, nature walks, and sightseeing.
