Srirangapatna is located about 15 km from Mysuru and is situated on an island formed by the River Cauvery. The town derives its name from the famous Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple, Srirangapatna, dedicated to Lord Vishnu (Ranganatha).

Historically, Srirangapatna was the capital of Tipu Sultan during the 18th century. It was a major center of power in South India and witnessed important battles during the Anglo-Mysore Wars against the British.

Brindavan Gardens was constructed in 1927 and completed in 1932 under the supervision of Sir Mirza Ismail, the then Diwan of Mysore. The garden is spread over about 60 acres and is designed in the Mughal garden style, inspired by the Shalimar Gardens of Kashmir.

Located below the Krishna Raja Sagara (KRS) Dam across the River Cauvery, the garden is arranged in three terraces with flowing water channels, lush lawns, flower beds, and ornamental trees. The highlight of the garden is the Musical Fountain Show, where water jets dance in synchronization with music and colorful lights during the evening.

The garden attracts tourists throughout the year and is especially popular among families, couples, and photography lovers. It is also one of the most famous picnic spots near Mysuru.

Chamundi Hills rises to an elevation of approximately 1,065 meters (3,497 ft) above sea level and is named after Goddess Chamundeshwari, the presiding deity of Mysuru. The hill has immense religious importance and is considered one of the 18 Maha Shakti Peethas by devotees.

At the summit stands the historic Chamundeshwari Temple, built in Dravidian architectural style. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Chamundeshwari (a form of Durga) who is believed to have killed the demon Mahishasura — from whom Mysuru derives its name (Mahishuru).

Halfway up the hill lies a massive monolithic Nandi Statue Mysore, carved in the 17th century during the reign of the Wodeyars. It is one of the largest Nandi statues in India.

The hill offers breathtaking panoramic views of Mysuru city, especially beautiful during sunrise and sunset.

Nahargarh Fort was constructed in 1734 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, the founder of Jaipur. Originally named Sudarshangarh, it was later renamed Nahargarh, which means “Abode of Tigers.” According to legend, the fort was named after the spirit of Nahar Singh Bhomia, whose presence was believed to disturb construction.

The fort formed a strong defense ring along with Amber Fort and Jaigarh Fort, protecting Jaipur from invasions. Though it never faced major attacks, it served as a strategic military defense structure.

One of the most remarkable sections inside the fort is the Madhavendra Bhawan, built by Sawai Madho Singh. It contains suites for the king and his queens, featuring beautiful frescoes, delicate carvings, and symmetrical architecture.

The fort’s elevated position in the Aravalli Hills provides breathtaking views of Jaipur city, especially during sunset and night illumination. Today, it is not only a historic site but also a popular picnic and photography destination.

Jantar Mantar in Jaipur was constructed between 1728 and 1734 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, the founder of Jaipur. It is one of the five observatories built by him across India (others are in Delhi, Ujjain, Varanasi, and Mathura).
